Care Cards

The dignity of choice in times of crisis.

Care Cards are $25 CommunityAid thrift store vouchers.

They provide flexible, immediate support, giving recipients the dignity to choose their own essentials while helping our partners conserve their own resources. Whether facing poverty, an unexpected clothing crisis, recovering from a house fire or transitioning out of homelessness, these vouchers are pivotal in creating a path toward sustainability and self-sufficiency.

How it works:

We rely on our local nonprofit partners to distribute these vouchers to the people who need them most.

1

Each quarter, we supply our active partners with a shipment of Care Cards, which have no expiration date, ensuring they are simple and easy to share with clients and guests in need.

2

Partners distribute these vouchers as they deem most fitting, either directly to individuals receiving support from their outreach, or to stock clothing closets with essentials to support their programming.

3

Cards are redeemed at the register, no questions asked, allowing shoppers to purchase their items without drawing attention to themselves. This process creates an environment where everyone can shop with dignity and respect.

  • "Through the Care Card Program, our families are able to shop with dignity and select clothing that fits their personal needs."

Eric Saunders - Executive Director, New Hope Ministries

  • "When I found out that I was expecting, I was scared. The Care Card program helped me prepare for the baby and get maternity clothes, so I could feel comfortable again!"

    Tamara - Care Card Recipient

  • "To be able to hand someone something so that they’re not leaving empty handed seems so simple, but you’re giving them hope. It’s an amazing thing that Community Foundation does, and it means the world to people and families in hard situations."

Bronwyn Kenna - 18 South Ministries

You can make a real change for neighbors in your community.

A new outfit for a child. Warm clothing after a house fire. Household essentials for someone moving into a new home. A Care Card may seem simple, but for someone walking through a difficult season, it can be a meaningful step toward stability, dignity, and self-sufficiency.
