ReNEWing HOPE

Since the start of our partnership in 2009, we have collaborated significantly with New Hope Ministries to grow their capacity and magnify their impact.

New Hope Ministries is a Christian nonprofit serving individuals and families in crisis across Adams, Cumberland, and York counties in Pennsylvania. For over 43 years they have provided essential resources like food, housing support, utility aid, transportation, workforce development, and youth programs.

New Hope Ministries provides healthy, nutritious food to those who are living in their service area through both our ten food pantries and over 30 mobile food pantry locations. This service allows our neighbors in need to walk through their food pantry and pick a balanced diet based on the MyPlate guidelines. Individuals and families also have access to a hot lunch prepared by volunteers using items from our food pantry, showcasing recipes that guests can later use at home.

New Hopes’ workforce development program provides job training and educational opportunities that lead to higher-paying, sustainable careers. By using a hands-on approach, staff can meet their guests where they are to create and provide personalized employment plans and provide ongoing mentorships that ensure long-term success.

New Hopes’ housing assistance program supports low-income families and provides crucial support to prevent eviction, homelessness, and long-term poverty by covering rent, mortgages, and hotel stays for eligible households facing financial roadblocks. The program also supports families that need emergency utility and heating assistance.

One of the most difficult parts of finding a job is finding and affording reliable transportation. New Hopes’ vehicle rental program provides a short-term solution to help families working on employment by providing access to a reliable vehicle while they save to get a vehicle of their own.

New Hope’s youth program creates a safe and nurturing environment where children can develop positive character traits, excel academically, and thrive. During the summer, they provide children in the community with an opportunity to learn, grow spiritually, and be engaged by meaningful mentorships.

New Hope Ministries is doing significant work to support our neighbors in need throughout central PA, and we are blessed to collaborate with them to make a greater difference in our communities.

Our support has made a meaningful difference for both New Hope Ministries and their clients.

We have provided New Hope Ministries with over $100,000 in grant funding since 2023 to support our neighbors’ access to nutritious food, transportation assistance, workforce development opportunities, youth programs, and housing and utility assistance. Specifically, grants funded a new sliding door for their food pantry, ensuring additional access and usage, purchase a food truck, and cover operational costs.

Additionally, we have provided over 2,400 Care Cards to support their outreach, enabling our neighbors to obtain work or seasonal clothing for themselves and family members.

New Hope Executive Director Eric Saunders shared, “Jesus said, ‘I was naked and you clothed me.’ Through its incredible partnership with New Hope Ministries, CommunityAid helps bring those words to life every day. Their Care Card program provides high-quality clothing with dignity, privacy, and compassion to thousands of neighbors in need each year. We are deeply grateful for CommunityAid's commitment to caring for ‘the least of these’ and for helping families experience both practical support and genuine hope.”

LIFT Workshops have helped New Hope staff build their skills by providing educational opportunities that keep them informed of the latest nonprofit best practices and industry trends. Since 2023, staff have attended seven sessions covering a variety of applicable topics, including Wealth Management, Nonprofit Collaboration, Effective Marketing Tactics, and Legal and Ethical Issue Management.

Together, the CommunityAid Foundation and New Hope Ministries are supporting our neighbors struggling with food, housing, and basic human needs. We are blessed to partner with New Hope as we work together to make a difference in the community.
